नेपालमा बस्ने हामी नेपाली ज्योतिषी भनेपछि आफ्नो दिमागको चलचित्र हलको पर्दामा टुप्पी पालेको, धोती कुर्ता, दौरा सुरुवाल लगाएको निधारमा त्रिपुण्ड र एउटा गोलो चस्मा अनुहारमा त्यो पनि नाकको तल्लो टुप्पोलाई छोएको चित्र कोर्न भ्याउँछौ र उनलाई नाम दिन्छौ ज्योतिषी बाजे । तर वास्तवमा सामान्य नेपाली जनतालाई थाह नै छैन त्यो ज्योतिषी शब्दको साथमा बाजे कताबाट घुलमिल गर्न आइपुग्यो । प्राचीन समयमा ज्योतिष विधाका ज्ञाता प्रायः बुढा मानिस हुन्थे र तिनै ज्योतिषीहरुलाई हाम्रा आफ्ना बुबाबाजे समान मानेर ज्योतिषीको साथमा बाजे लगाएर सम्मान गर्ने एउटा चलन थियो । समय बदलियो, देश राजतन्त्र देखि प्रजातन्त्र भई गणतन्त्रसम्म आईपुग्यो । आजभोलि ज्योतिषीहरु प्रायः युवा भैसके तर दश रुपैयाँको फेविक्विकले चपक्क टाँसेको जस्तो मानिसको मुखबाट त्यो बाजे शब्द कहिल्यै छुट्न चाहेन । शब्द सानो हो तर आँफूभन्दा साना व्यक्तिलाई बाजे भनेर बोलाउँदा त्यो शब्दको महत्व बैग्लै भयो । यहाँ शब्दमात्रै होइन हरेक कुरामा झुक्किन्छौ हामी नेपाली । प्रायः ज्योतिष कार्यालय आएर सोध्छन्- हजुरले कम्प्युटरबाट चिना हेर्नु हुन्छ – त्यो समयमा सम्झाउनु पर्छ यदि कम्प्युटरले नै हेराउने भएको भए मैले किन पढ्नको लागि यति वर्षखेर फाल्नु पर्थ्यो र– एउटा कम्प्युटर, एउटा सफ्टवेयर किनेर बस्थें कुनै बजारको एउटा सटर भाडा लिएर । प्रायः व्यक्तिहरुले सोच्छन्- यो ज्योतिषीले कम्प्युटरबाट हेरेर भन्छ, अनि यति धेरै पैसा लिन्छ । यहाँ आरामले बसेको छ, टन्नै पैसा छापेको छ । आजभोलि एउटा उखान जस्तै वाक्य फेमस भएको रैछ समाजमा युवामाझ ‘गरेर खान नसक्ने ज्योतिषी बन्छ रे ।’ सोच्न बाध्य हुन्छु कुनै समय यति सम्मान पाउने ज्योतिषीहरुलाई अहिले किन समाजको एउटा वर्ग चोर जसरी हेर्छ, शायद त्यसमा गल्ती उनीहरुको होईन गल्ती हामीहरुको पनि लाग्छ । समाजलाई हामीले ज्योतिषीको महत्व बुझाउन खोजे पनि बुझाउन सकेनौ र हाम्रो पनि कमजोर भएर गएको देखियो । संघ-संस्थाहरु समाजमा देखे अनुसार आजभोलि भाइरल हुनको लागि पनि मान्छेहरु ज्योतिषी बनेका छन् । मिडियामा आउँछन् एक पलको लागि ठूलो भविष्यवाणी गर्छन् । अनि पुरा नभएपछि केही न केही बहाना गर्छन् । हुन त सबै वर्गमा केही न केही कमजोरी छ, हरेक वर्गमा मानिसहरु सफा र इमान्दार छैनन् तर हाम्रो संघसंस्थाको कर्तव्य हो कि यो पेशालाई पनि निरन्तर निगरानीमा राखोस् समाजमा भैराखेको गतिविधिलाई हेरेर कारवाही गर्ने ठाउँमा कारवाही पनि गरोस् । ज्योतिषीहरुको शिक्षा र अनुभव अनुसार मान्यता मिलोस् । जबसम्म यो पेशा यसरी नै बदनाम हुनेछ र बाहिरी मानिसहरु पनि यो पेशालाई बदनाम गर्न आउने छन् । मानिसहरुको काम नै के हो र लहैलहैमा चल्ने आफ्नो बुद्धि विवेक उपयोग नगर्ने अनि ठगिने र बदनाम गर्ने पूरै ज्योतिषी समाजलाई
